Ghana rubbish age-cheating claims by SA coach Mashaba

Ghana have rubbished claims by South African Under-17 team coach that their counterpart used over-aged players in their African Under-17 qualifier.

Coach Shakes Mashaba made the allegations after the Black Starlets eliminated the Amanjimbos 5-3 on aggregrate in Essipong to qualify for next year’s African Under-17 Championship.

But the vice-chairman of the Black Starlets management committee, Winfred Osei Parma has slammed the coach for his comment and urged him to learn to accept defeat in good faith.

“It’s an unfortunate statement to come from a coach. The players were cleared by CAF after they underwent a mandatory MRI test,” Parma said

“I believe it’s a clear case of sour grips. They lost to a better side and should accept that and stop making baseless allegations.

“I don’t think it will augur well for the relationship that exists between the two associations.

Ghana will join seven other countries to play for honours at next year’s continental championship to be held in Morocco.
