Malawi will have to fight hard to defeat the Black Stars
Ghana has sent Malawi into the lower rungs of world after the Flames crashed six steps down to 96th in the FIFA World rankings.
This revelation by the world governing body comes just ten days before the two sides meet in the second-leg of their final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Lilongwe.
The Black Stars 2-0 victory over the Flames in the first leg in Accra left the Malawians in the obscurity of world football.
The ranking leaves Malawi ranked close to countries like Qatar, Cyprus and Iceland.
This is bad news for the Flames who had clanged to their 90th position for two months until the Black Stars intervened to slow their momentum.
Ghana maintained their 31st position which gives them a psychological boost ahead of their clash in Lilongwe.
