Ghana president John Dramani Mahama wants an inquisition into the Black Stars washed-out campaign at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

For the first time in three World Cup finals, the team failed to progress from the Group stage under bizarre circumstances.

In the build-up to their final Group G match on Thursday against Portugal which they lost 2-1, the players boycotted training due to their unpaid appearance fees.

His Excellency had to intervene before US$ 3m was airlifted to the team in Brasilia before their match.

Also the expulsion of duo Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari on disciplinary grounds has been a major talking point.

“We [Ghana] need to look at the team as a whole. We need to set up a committee to look at the whole system of what happened in Brazil 2014 right from the preparation, through the build up to the World Cup, to when they went to Brazil, to what happened in Brazil until they came back,” President Mahama told the press in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

Ghana’s contingent will be back home on Saturday.

Can smell match fixing, GFA boss! In the last match it was agreed that Cristiano Ronaldo be made to score in order to redeem his image. SHAME UNTO GFA.

    • Kenny says:

BLACK STARS FAILED BECAUSE OF AKWASI APPIAH AND NANTAKYI. BOTH MUST BE SACKED. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS TIME TO USE MAXWELL KONADU. I THINK HE WILL BE THE BEST TO COACH GHANA.

APPIAH KEPT USING CERTAIN PLAYERS THAT WE JUST COULD NOT UNDERSTAND. AFRIYIE ACQUAH WAS KEPT ON THE BENCH FOR WHAT REASONS? THE LAD PROVED TO BE A VERY GOOD PLAYER.

HOW COME A WORLD CUP BOUND COACH DID NOT KNOW HIS FIRST ELEVEN TEAM? I CAN SEE THAT THESE ARE SOME OF THE REASONS WHY EVEN KEVIN BOATENG QUESTION HIS TACTICS.

LOOKING AT THE TALENT THAT GHANA HAS RIGHT NOW, AKWASI APPIAH SHOULD BE LET GO. PLEASE LETS GIVE MAXWELL KONADU A CHANCE AND SEE WHAT HE CAN OFFER FOR AFCON.

NANTAKYI MUST BE REMOVED FROM HIS POST. HE IS A GREEDY BASTARD!!!

  2. JUSTICE JAY says:

Setting committee to probe to the Stars failure at the on going Fifa
world cup would definitely be cost the government,….so , I don’t think it’s important
but, the only solution to the failure not to occur come next is to sack The
Mouthful Blackstars Management Members for they are to corrupted.
    Thanks.

  3. selfmade says:

Yes that’s the right way to go but I wish this committee will be firm as hell! They should also investigate NYANTAKYI for the match fixing allegations and the other fa members too!!

Am 100% sure that some fa members, technical crew and some players collided to fix our match with Portugal! Don’t be surprise fellas but the Portugal match seems to be fixed and I know that in due time, FIFA ll find out and punish Ghana severily!!

Thirdly, the president should kick out this sports minister from this portfolio! The man is too partisan and it was wrong in the first place to place such a partisan man in our sport ministry!

Ever since, this man took over as the sport minister, there has never been a major tournament without an issue! He is incompetent, not charismatic and arrogant too! It seems people don’t like him and is clear from how we have had issues in major competitions!

Mister president, some of these ministers are disgracing u but at the end of the day, your name and head ll be on the chopping board!

This man is not a sport person and he has a poor organization skills too and that shows a man who is self centered! We have never ever had a disgraceful outings in major tournament like this and that tells me that the leader of the delegation who happens to be the sports minister is incompetent as well and he needs to be kick out!!

If he was a good leader, he could have weather the storms but judging from the confusion in Brazil, this man has fail us and he needs to be change!!

    Enough is enough!

  4. Benito says:

No,no,no,…it’s useless, another cost to the tax payer,at the end of investigations, the recommendations are not implemented.we had these useless committees in the past, who basically do nothing and take allowances at each sitting..take a bold step as a leader and fire all those managing the stars and bring in new ones who prepared to work,no committee,no need of investigations.those managing affairs have be so powerful and they think they are untouchable.

  5. SHANGO says:

Let them investigate banger and samedge too. Those guys are too rich, let us find out how they make their money.

  6. Mumbi says:

John Boye scored a wonderful goal. Please Mahama, stop the nosense of forming up such useless investigative committees. The BLACKOUT STARS did a very good job of salvaging 1 point so just celebrate that single point as you welcome them on Accra airstrip.

  7. K Man says:

For what? Didn’t government and GFA know that this issue of money would be a concern as is always the case with African teams and didn’t the GFA not choose Appiah as coach despite the fact that the 6-1 win over Egypt couldn’t mask that he is limited as a coach and cannot unite the team to play for each other.

Probing for some PR relationship issue is nonsense. GFA to the coach to certain positions in the team need to be looked at.

Lack of application and will from GFA and government is killing Ghana football….32 years and still counting!!

  8. Stallion says:

As a nation we need to do some self assessment, and stop the hero worshiping, and glorification of authority, and people with money and power. Developed societies did not achieve that level of development by sweeping their problems under the carpet like we do in Africa. Whether its football, or the economy, every aspect of our society needs revamping. Instead of coming to the defence of corrupt leaders like we see some people do on this site in the wake of the GFA match fixing scandal; we must wake up as people who want the betterment of our country, and call for serious investigation into these things. Its the only way to hold people in position of authority accountable.

  9. Draman Appiah says:

Lets first arrest Kwaku Bonsam for making Ghana look like fools. He never bewitched Ronaldo and now our stupid players are now coming back home shamelessly.

  10. fred says:

This dude of a president and his urge for forming commitees and its waste of money. The truth is on the ground HELLLLLOOOO.You do not need rocket science to understand what is happening.

  11. fred says:

    concern citizen,
You do not need rocket science to know the cause of failure. This whole commitee forming thing is bereaucratic nonsense.

  12. Nana says:

Committee committee, it’s away gov’ts throw dust in our eyes , we need a real accoaccountability. A corrupt can’t be probed by another corrupt.NDC government is a laughing stock, oman ghana SIka paa eeiih

  13. NAIJA says:

Playing under protest, thats what they exactly did.
Dont worry sometimes fowls can also fly.
The eagles will represent you well.
Other thing: Air lifting $3m for the players who are protesting, well done boys.Protest and later grab the dough

  14. Sibs says:

As an African i’m hurt by the loss to an ordinary Portugal team after playing so well against Germany.
    But forming committees won’t help.
“‘If you want to kill a snake don’t appoint a committee” just do it. All the best Ghana as you regroup.

  15. Kwaps says:

Bull shit! what committee again? Isn’t it obvious to see, b’cos of irresponsible and incompetence of some foolish fools the Black Stars couldn’t perform? We had a very good team to progress to the semi’s no doubt. Fuck that crap abt committee . Mr President use ur veto power to sack them b’cos they had failed. As for AA he had done his best, after all he was the lowest paid and lack the abilities of a good coach in the tournament. My small bro will even tell u that the match against USA u have to start Essien, Prince Boateng and Sulley to play together. Now see the shit he did? God help us all….

  16. freshnaro says:

I can’t fathom the fact that our president is one for committees. Setting up committees for virtually nothing to discuss. I cant imagine the number of committees he’s set up yet no fruitful implementation. Does everything in Ghana has to be brought to committee level to find a solution?
    God have mercy.

  17. Akin - Ghanaian by heart says:

This whole thing smells fishy to me, although I refrain from making definitive accusations I think that one player stands out. John Boye is highly suspect, if one look at the two most important games in the group stage you would see 1: He did not defend against Dempsey, even school boys know that you show the forward to the outside. 2: Own goal. 3: Obstructed the keeper on CR7′s goal, he didn’t even look at the attacking player. 4: Caught on camera kissing his bonus stash. Now this is all circumstantial but I think match fixing influences has infiltrated this Ghanaian team. Everyone knows that no team outside of Germany, Spain & maybe the Dutch can play against the Black Stars once they are properly motivated and coached!

  18. maubs says:

i have not stopped calling for an enquiry and I believe it is neccessary and utmost if we are to get away from excuse excuse excuse, show the world that we are capable of learning from our mishaps in order to get better. yes it may cost money but if it ends up leading to redemption of image, and to a more professionalism and efficiency so we do as well as we can do in the next competition then what cost can any one place on that? If they dont spend money on something like that they will spend the money on something useless or on corrupted activities for which most readers on here would never ever benefit from or get a little cheer from. I nominate Asantehene,JJ, Anthony Baffoe and Roger Milla or an indepedent football man. I dont know if much will come out of this knowing our people but if the fool intends to be wise then what is the point saying know? Lets get the pressure on and get the right people on such an enquiry, cross our fingers and pray that it doesnt become a kalabuleman commmitee or crooks congregation which i somehow fear that it will be

  19. readi 2 dye says:

What president Don Quixote needs to do is to set up a committee to investigate all the corrupt government officials in his government n why the players had no trust in his appointees. They demanded cash cuz they don’t even trust ur checks….to the extend u had to break all international money laundering laws to airlift $3 mil to one of the dangerous places on earth….something is really wrong with this president…..he shows up when he is pose to b on the DL…. N on the DL when he pose to show up….unlike midas anything this president Don Quixote touches is poison…the world cup is just a Month long and can easily make $5mil profit if u could only front the 3mil. Don’t have all the facts but from my standpoint ankrah, nyantakyi n kwesi appear need to go…this was a total embarrassment for us ghanaians…wasn’t even an official but had to answer to so many of my non ghanaian friends about what was going on…..world cup no koraa b0 me num…… WTF.

  20. kwesi says:

BLACK STARS FAILED B’COS THEY PUT THEIR TRUST IN AN IDOL WORSHIPPER CALLED (kweku bonsam)
Can satan’s power be compared to the Almighty GOD’s power? It is indeed foolishness to send so called kweku bonsam and ignore the almighty GOD who helped Black stars to shine in 2006 and 2010. If gods can bring victory to Ghana then why did we fail in group stages. SHAME TO ALL THOSE WHO BELIEVES IN kweku bonsam(gods’ powers)

  21. Nana Essuman says:

No need to form a committee. It’s a waste of tax payers monies. The government need to hold the bull by the horn like what the president of Nigeria did to Nigeria FA after the 2010 World Cup and Things started to work out again. I believe Ghana will regain the fame if that scrutiny is made. God bless Ghana.

  22. plance says:

Kwasi Appiah have failed us, period! I wonder if those of you who call for him being maintained are truly Ghanaians or even have Ghana at heart. Point of correction, if doctors in this country whose work is all about life and death can hold the country to ransom and go on strike demanding that they be paid if not, they will not work and patience, precious lives are lost in the course of this, why can the players too demand such? This is what happens in Ghana, and in some aspects, I agree totally with this because, is about time we stop taking the patience of people for granted all in the name of “Patriotism”. We fail to realise that besides doing their job on the field they are toiling and sweating with injuries and inevitable thing in their line of work. Do you then say, they should work without pay because they are patriotic? Lets stop this hypocrisy and face reality. Which of you will work diligently and sacrificially without being paid for the sake of being patriotic. Yes! we all do LOVE our country, but should others use that as an excuse to cheat us? Besides, this is their only source of livelihood, for crying out loud. If they were your family, will you prefer they be patriotic and sacrifice their lives and not get paid. What happened to “Do unto others as you will have them do unto you”. Come to think of it, years ago when players used to sacrifice for the country, what have become of their lives today? The least said the better. Back to Kwasi Appiah. As a coach, player management is the key thing to do and not player control. Tactically bankrupt, Motivationally deprived, composure wise, very demeaning. If it was a white coach back then, he will be shown the marching others. What makes Kwasi Appiah different. Please, lets face it, he has lost his touch and must go. We need a more tactical white coach who will command respect. Ghanaian can not and must not be taken for granted, period! I rest my case to continue yet another blessed day or time, RESPECT!!!

  23. Kojo says:

Another useless venture….the Prez should rather set up a committee to investigate his failures in the management of the Ghanaian economy….

  24. I do not agree to thise.GFA is a mafia group.they will surely come out with some bogus reasons. The coach together with GFA executives must be sacked.

  25. PITO says:

Has he been sacked? That is the multi million dollar question we all are waiting tp hear.
Can’t we see Akwasi Appiah is a man LOW on confidence and an amateur?

Ghana is the only football nation in the world that changes goal keepers like strikers and refuse to field our best players. And refuse to change tactics in a game. At the world cup I never saw Akwasi Appiah playing 3 strikers even when it was obvious we need a goal or we are coming home such as the game against Portual. He has NO IDEA how to be do this job. Go back to videos from Milovan Rajevac era and see the kind of organisation the blackstars possessed on the ball especially in midfield and compare. Is Akwasi Appiah going to be sacked??

  26. Assemblyman says:

Now tell your readers the truth oo Ameenu! You are here in Brazil too..tell them that the alo sports minister,FA boss ,management team, coaches and playing body are already hot in finding real reason to their failure in Brazil. They are having constant meetings on writing reports already .they wanted to blame their failures on both kevin and sulley.Yes! they want to use indiscipline as the main reason for the failure . Indiscipline my foot too.what of the minister who bedded Jackie Appiah? What of the lying coach ? What of the judas Agyeman Badu who had slept with Becca but wasn’t sacked ?because Badu was the spy set upon players to report player activities to Parker and FA ? Badu gossiping business was rewarded by the coach to starting him against Portugal. But I tell you all that ,this boy or let’s say a man, because he is an old man should you meet him in person but dwarfed, that who jah bless no man curse.sulley might not be an angel sometimes like balotelli.but what do they have in common ,both are having roots in konongo and are very charitable.kevin might be whatever people might lie or say about him but he doesn’t make slave wages like Agyeman Badu does at udinese.
Actually those crooks of big men here in Brazil are very divided over the opinion on whether they should blame kevin and sulley for infiltrating the camp with indiscipline .as section of them are thinking it will backfire big time against them as both sulley and kevin won’t keep mute over lies.as they will tell really about the truth and whatever happened here.Already because of some of us the world knows the truth,,.so confusion galore ..these people are really sweating really hard in finding answers.they are trying to write already failed reports at the moment ..

    • K Man says:

Assemblyman, I hear you BUT unless media in Ghana and Ghanaians start to kick up a fuss than there’s going to be no change. This nonsense happened in the past with officials going on “jollies” with Ghana at WC, but has blown up worse now, with the mix of a limited coach and lack of player cohesion/unity.

My focus is how will this or is this even going to translate into fundamental change, because it’s a good story but today’s headlines is tomorrow’s forgotten news….unless Ghanaians and the GH media expose the story and hold feet of individuals to the fire, it will be same story different tournament…if we even qualify.

  27. Chris Opoku SA says:

All of them are the same corrupt leaders God will punish you all

  28. A concerned citizen...[investigate Dr Awasi Appiah too]] says:

The reason why Dr AA must go First he is still learning..long time ago he is still building his team ..no first 11 players yet, every much new players, he can not blend very well the old and the new and as such creating confusion among the players. Thus, putting square pegs in round hole experiment to earn him “try and error” coach and i doubt whether Ghana can win a trophy. For example AFCON tournament he failed miserably. GFA gave him the second chance to make amends he has just blown that opportunity. He can not manage egos today he will fight with the Ayews or KPB tomorrow Munatari i even suspect he is fighting Esiien, Badu and others under ground because of his silent killer instincts specialty.”Dictator” coach AA will sack all the players one by one until he will have no player to coach..huh..If friends are sharing jokes why should you go and buy it? This reveals his ignorance coupled with colonial mentality plus his guilty conscience or bad motives towards his own players. His incompetence was manifested in the very first match against U,S. How can you field fresh people ahead of experienced ones? His explanation reveals his ignorance to the World. How can you go to war and leave out your best guns and go with “Ate abr3fr3″ first so when the war becomes tough then you come back to take your best guns? you must have been killed ..and that was what happened. It was because of this the international pundits never gave Ghana a dog chance and they got it right…Huge talents in Ghana..Yes but an apprentice coach managing the affairs. If care is not taken he will be killing talents…Why? His silent killing instincts is working on some seniors players to sideline them ruin their careers…He is ignorantly fielding some fresh guys to kill their confidence…Why? At a big stage you need to introduce fresh guys gradually so they will learn from their seniors. All coaches who failed at the World cup have resigned but not African “dictator” coach AA. or may be that is his family stool. Any coach could have reached the semi final or even win the World cup with these huge talents…We don’t want a coach who will share crocodile tears because of his guilty conscience.

  29. me says:

So U guys also set up committee..African Leaders n their shallow thinking,is just another way to divert public funds into their pocket.

  30. Lord Maxi says:

Kwasi appiah must be fired before its too late. He shwd us he is incompetent
