Ghana Premier League sextet named in AFCON squad

Posted On Thursday, 13th December 2012

Richard Kissi-Boateng of Berekum Chelsea was named in the Black Stars preliminary squad

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah included six Ghana Premier League players in his preliminary 26-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The number includes two goalkeepers; Fatau Dauda and Daniel Agyei and four out-field players.

Berekum Chelsea duo Richard Kissi Boateng and Solomon Asante, Rashid Sumaila of champions Asante Kotoko and Yahaya Mohammed have been handed opportunities to play in their first Nations Cup finals.

Left-back Boateng was selected ahead of foreign-based duo David Addy and Nana Akwasi Asare.

Centre-back Sumaila will contest with regulars Isaac Vorsah and John Boye for a place in the final squad.

Twinkle toes Asante is a winger and Mohammed, captain of Amidaus Professionals, leads the scorers chart in Ghana Premier League.

The sextet must justify their places ahead of the naming of the final 23-man squad for the tournament.

K BOATENG CAN NOT DEAL WITH THE ATTACK/PRESSURE HE WILL FACE IN AFCON 2013. WAS HE ABLE TO DEAL WITH THE CHAMPS LEAGUE PRESSURE? NO! EVEN ZAMALEK PLAYERS GO PASS AM LIKE WATER! AASHOULD DROP PAINSTIL. HE IS USELESS! CALL EITHER DAVE ADDY/NANA ASARE N PAIR THEM WITH K BOATENG ISNTEAD FOR LEFT FULL BACK.

AA SHOULD DROP FATAU AND CALL WARRIS. 3 GOALIES IS A WASTE. YOUR BEST OFFENSE IS YOUR DEFENSE!

Too many rookies, raw and inexperience players.
    Good luck black Stars.

  5. yopoo says:

Useless coach how can you invite 26 players when you know you break their heart at the end.?

    • Papa Nkrumah says:

Good but worrying observation. especially when they will not even be part of the team when they play the two friendly matches against Egypt and Tunisia. The coach will drop them before he even properly assess them. What kind of planning is that?
