Ghana needs early goal against Malawi - Ayew

Andre Ayew reckons Ghana needs early goal against Malawi

Midfielder Andre Ayew says Ghana needs an early goal to unsettle Malawi on Saturday.

The Black Stars carry a vital 2-0 advantage going into the return leg of the final qualifier for the 2013 Nations Cup in Lilongwe.

However, Malawi are determined to overturn this deficit to deny Ghana a 19th appearance at the AFCON.

The country’s FA has rallied support for the Flames to ensure the Black Stars face an intimidating atmosphere at the Civo Stadium on Saturday.

And Ayew recognizes an early goal is what is needed to rattle the home side to get Ghana well on its way to victory.

“It will be a tough game Malawi have a good midfield and are tactically sound but if we can get the first goal early it may be tough for them to bounce back,” the Olympique Marseille enforcer said.

The Ghana team will travel to Malawi on Friday after a four-day camp in neighboring Kenya.

u will be the first player to score against Malawi

  2. Blow says:

Early Goal is what we need but based on sporadic counter attacking football based on sound defensive display.

  3. Africanus says:

Winning will be good for the history books. But what is most important is we keep our eye on going to South Africa, that means protecting our lead from the first leg in Accra. Remember a 0-0 draw will see us through. Rushing for goals could expose our back side to danger. Our failure in Zambia should be a lesson.

Malawi will score twice in the first half? That could be possible. However GH will score 5 goals in the same half and another 5 in the second…and since Malawi won’t score in the 2nd half, Ghana will runaway with 10goals to the 2 Malawi scored in the first half.

wow dede, don’t you have a nack for the obvious. and gahanaman please show some kind of respect to african players, were we not all here when a local based national team won it 3 straight times followed by another just this year? playing abroad is good, but it doesn’t gurantee a great team, cohesiveness does and if most of your players are locally based and it going to achieve the cohesive play, then so be it. let fray from this illogical way of thinking GSN.

  6. Samuel Etoo says:

Ghana should give chance to young talents like WARIS,Yiadom and Jordan and stop calling GYAN.Atsu is agood play maker who can combine with Waris to take Ghana to victory.Atsu will score again in this encounter,Waris will also score brace in this game.go Ghana GO waris go ATSU GO JORDAN GO YIADOM GO BLACK STARS.
