Ghana move down eight places on latest FIFA ranking

Posted On Wednesday, 4th July 2012

Black Stars squad

Ghana slipped eight places in the FIFA ranking released for the month of July on Wednesday.

The Black Stars dropped from the 28th position to 33rd in the world but remains Africa’s second best national team.

Last month’s defeat to Zambia in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers did not help matters.

European champions, Spain maintained their top position with Germany moving second while Uruguay dropped to third.

A total of 133 international ‘A’ matches have been played in recent weeks.

The matches included Euro 2012 matches, 60 qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, 15 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and 27 friendlies.

33-28 = 5 nd not 8. I think it was a typo error. Anywaez, i expected this, cos we only won against a team below us (Lesotho) nd even if we have beaten Zambia, it would not hav bn significant cos they are also below us in the FIFA rankings. Remember that u get more points when u beat a team that is ahead of u…..

It actually would be better if we were dropped to 50. This would challenge some egos and bring the best out of players. Ghana is best as an underdog.
