Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is on the verge of joining for Rubin Kazan as his Spanish club Espanyol look to have accepted the Russian side’s final offer for the player.
Los Periquitos are ready to cash in on the wantaway forward, but they are trying to get as much money as possible out of the deal from the only serious contender that is Rubin.
While La Liga side are prepared to accept Rubin’s latest offer of €6 million, they will attempt to ensure they also get a percentage from future sale.
Around €1 million will go straight to the player’s previous club Villarreal, while the rest will be used to service a small portion of club’s huge outstanding debt.
The 23-year-old only joined Espanyol last summer, but he quickly developed into a key player at Cornella El Prat.
Wakaso scored 3 goals in 26 La Liga matches for los Periquitos, while impressing at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, netting 4 times at the tournament finals.
