Ghana midfielder Michael Essien says he doesn’t mind playing ugly football to win games.

The 30-year-old was part of the successful Chelsea team under Jose Mourinho that were tagged ‘boring’ with their rude style of winning.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has gone from one manager to the other since sacking the iconic Portuguese manager in search of one that will deliver free flowing attacking football while also churning out wins with no success.

He is now set to return to Chelsea’s shrugged way of winning with reports of an imminent Mourinho return to Stamford Bride.

And just the departing Real Madrid manager, Essien says he doesn’t mind winning by playing ugly football.

“When he used to be at Chelsea the media said Chelsea is boring when we are playing,” he said.

“So if we can score most goals and get most points and concede less, I don’t know why they say we are boring but at the end of the day we go out and win our games, that is the most important thing.”
