Ghana midfielder Laryea Kingston snubs Tenerife deal

Ghana midfielder Laryea Kingston has snubbed a deal table by Spanish second division Tenerife despite arriving at the club for medicals.

Kingston arrived in the Spanish city on Sunday, waiting for the deal to be sealed.

The midfielder suddenly departed to his home country clearly unhappy about the terms tabled by the Segunda division side.

However his representative Israel Corcuera claims a family issue in Ghana prompted Kingston to abandon talks with Tenerife.

"There was a problem with his wife and that is why he left," Corcuera justified Kingston's sudden departure.

Corcuera denied that the player was disappointed with the offer tabled by Tenerife because he had received better offers from Blackpool and an American MLS side.

"These deals were already on the table and we almost completed the agreement in Tenerife,” Kingston’s representative said.

“If he travelled 16 hours to reach the island it is because he wanted to close the deal, but everything changed because of the family problem that arose for the player."

Kingston is not constrained by the transfer window as he is a free agent and can join a club at any time.
