Schalke midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is getting the full backing of coach Jens Keller despite his unimpressive showing and disciplinary problems playing for the German side.

The Ghana midfielder has faced sharp criticism in the media German for his poor showing in recent matches for the Bundesliga in the face of his huge salary and massive transfer fee.

His disciplinary problems have also worked against Schalke as his suspensions have left the team short of quality options upfront.

He was shown the red card in their match against Frankfurt on Saturday which ended 2-2 and many of their supporters argued that his sending off negatively affected the team as they sought to win the match.

Despite these problems, Keller insists they are supporting Boateng to overcome these difficulties as players sometimes have challenges in their careers.

“He is not a bad player; it’s just that he is having one of those moments in a footballer’s life where things don’t necessarily go your way," Keller said.

"It’s not a problem for us and we feel he will come good when he returns from the suspension.

“We have been talking most of the time at training on how to keep his temper in check during matches and we are not there yet but we will get there soon.”

Boateng has been in bad form since the start of the season which has led to criticism from the media who have been unhappy with the Ghanaian sine his move from AC Milan.
