Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has completed his surprise move to Schalke 04 after passing a medical on Friday while revealing he could have joined the German club as far back as last year.
The 26-year-old signed a four-year deal to seal his return to Germany from Italian giants AC Milan.
Boateng was presented to the press as Schalke’s latest signing on Friday afternoon haven passed a medical at Gelsenkirchen earlier in the morning.
The versatile midfielder who has been handed the no.9 jersey says he is happy to make a return to his country of birth.
“I’m happy to be back home in Germany in the best league in the world,” he said after his presentation.
“The first contact was there a year ago. Sometimes you have to wait for good things and opportunities. It was just perfect – the club with its crazy fans, a young coach (Jens Keller) – and Horst Heldt (Schalke’s sporting director). I knew already I wanted to come.
