Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng believes the international break has come at a wrong time for Schalke following a devastating week of huge defeats.

The German club were clobbered 6-1 by Real Madrid earlier last week in the Champions League before suffering a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Coach Jens Keller will now have to wait until Thursday to have most of his international players back from national team duty to begin work on restoring their buttered pride.

Boateng who will be joining the Black Stars camp for the friendly against Montenegro on Wednesday says he would have preferred to stay behind at Schalke and work on their recovery from a horrible week.

“Unfortunately we now missing a few days, because most of the players will be heading to their national teams,” the Ghana international said.

“We have all only the Thursday as training day.

“I'm going to the national team, but would rather be here so that we can address everything.

“We need to quickly put this week away, because difficult tasks ahead.”
