Emmanuel Frimpong says he’s ready to fight for a place in the Black Stars

Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong says he’s ready to fight for a regular place in the Black Stars.

The 21-year-old has been included in the 23-man squad released by coach Kwesi Appiah for Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Sudan.

The Black Stars boast of a competitive midfield department which comprises of Kwadwo Asamoah, Rabiu Mohammed, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Sulley Muntari, Mubarak Wakaso and Christian Atsu.

But the hard tackling Fulham midfielder admits it will be difficult to break into the team but says he will work hard to become a regular.

“I have got a good chance to play that’s why the manager brought me here. We have got some great midfielders,” Frimpong said

“It is going to take time for me to gel in. I am looking to get my chance and when I get my chance I will take it.”

Frimpong has declared himself fit for the game at the Baba Yara stadium despite concerns over his fitness.

He is expected to train with his colleagues for the first time at the Accra sports stadium on Tuesday afternoon (16hrs GMT)
