Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong blasts Wenger over selection policy

Ex-Arsenal academy starlet Emmanuel Frimpong used his considerable social media presence to slam Arsene Wenger's selection policy for last week's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, claiming that the Gunners boss should have started Lukas Podolski.

Frimpong was still an Arsenal player as recently as last month, before completing a permanent, if short-term switch to Championship side Barnsley.

The Ghana international still has close links with a number of his former Arsenal team-mates, including Podolski, and was clearly very disappointed not to see the clinical forward start against former club Bayern.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger chose to drop Podolski despite his strike against Liverpool last weekend, opting to play Yaya Sanogo and Santi Cazorla up front and on the left flank respectively.

Frimpong vented his frustration with the decision on Twitter last night, posting: "What has Podolski got to do to get a bloody game.

"Podolski plays Podolski scores play him more often."

This season has been a frustrating one for Podolski for a whole host of reasons, with a four-month spell on the sidelines with a hamstring tear curtailing his chances of fighting for a regular starting spot on the right flank.

Podolski has started just three Premier League games this season, but still managed to score a treble which contributes to six strikes in all competitions for the fan favourite.
