Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is confident Schalke can cause a major upset by progressing ahead of Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The Royal Blues have hit a rich vein of form at the turn of the year – winning all their Bundesiga matches played in 2014.

Schalke’s rich form is being traced to the improved health of the Ghana international who was unable to play consistently in the first half of the season due to injuries.

Jens Keller’s side are now just two points behind third-placed Borussia Dortmund in the German top flight – oozing confidence ahead of their Champions League tie against the Spanish giants.

Boateng, 26, however believes the team stand a good chance of elimination Los Blancos if they maintain their current momentum.

“We have to take things one game at a time. If we keep playing like we are, I have no doubts at all [that we will qualify],” the Black Stars forward said.

“It's as simple as that, but we have to put up a fight each weekend, not only with the opposition, but also with ourselves to ensure we maintain our current level of performance.”

Schalke will be facing Real Madrid just days after facing Bayern Leverkusen in the top liner of the Bundesliga this Saturday.
