Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew will return to training with French giants Marseille on Monday afternoon after their seven-day break, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 25-year-old is expected in training with his club on Monday afternoon after ending his Christmas holidays in his home country of Ghana.

Ayew's departure from Accra sparked some impression from certain quarters that he has been recalled from Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations training camp but the report is not accurate.

Marseille players will resume training at the Robert Louis-Dreyfus training centre and Ayew has to be a key part of their preparation for upcoming matches.

The French club have recalled their player for training before their match against Grenoble in the 32nd round of the Coupe de France on Sunday 4 January at the the Alpes stadium,

Marseille are expecting the players to return to the side on Monday for training because the release date for foreign-based players for the Africa Cup of Nations is 4 January.

FIFA laws state that clubs must release their players to their countries to play in international tournaments two weeks before the start of the competition which means Marseille can hold onto Ayew up to that date.

This means Marseille are right to recall the player for the competition and they are right as they can hold onto the players until 4 January, two weeks before the tournament kicks off in Equatorial Guinea.
