Ghana midfielder Abu makes Lorient debut in Ligue 1

Mohammed Abu plays first Ligue 1 game for Lorient

Ghana midfielder Mohmmed Abu made his French Ligue 1 debut for Lorient in the 2-1 win over Evian TG on Saturday.

The 21-year-old came on to replace Enzo Reale in the 74th minute to help Les Merlus to the vital home win.

The Manchester City player arrived in January on loan from Spanish club Rayo Vallecano where he had limited first team opportunities.

Abu’s flourishing career appears to have stalled since leaving Stromsgodset – where he has had two loan spells in 2012.

The Ghana international who was part of the Black Stars team that placed fourth at the 2012 Nations Cup is looking to resurrect his career with the move to Lorient.
