The Ghana Medical Association has kicked against CAF’s request to host the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in the country.

The medical umbrella body feels the country is not well equipped to deal with the potential spill should the outbreak occur in the African country.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has written to the Ministry of Sports requesting Ghana to consider hosting the biannual event following Morocco’s decision to withdraw.

The North African country wants the continent’s controlling body to postpone the date of the start of the tournament due to fears over the deadly Ebola virus.

But the Ghana Medical Association has urged authorities to reject the proposal.

“If people are going to be here for more than or close to a month, some could come in at a point where they do not have a full blown infection or are not exhibiting the symptoms,” Deputy General Secretary of the GMA, Dr. Justice Yankson told Citi FM

“But the symptoms could come in after they have already entered the country.

“That is something we need to think about. Before we take a final decision, we really need to sit down and do our homework well.”

The deadly Ebola diseased has claimed more than 4,000 lives in West Africa with Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea the heavily hits.
