Ghana beat Malawi 1-0 to qualify to next year's African Cup of Nations

By Patrick Akoto

Ghana will make a 19th appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations at next year’s finals in South Africa.

The Black Stars beat Malawi 1-0 in the return leg of the Cup of Nations qualifier in Lilongwe on Saturday to complete a 3-0 aggregate win.

Promising midfieder Afriyie Acquah tapped in from close range from Andre Ayew cross in the second minute to give the Ghanaians the precious victory.

The West African heavyweights will be duly represented at the continental showpiece in South Africa where they are expected to challenge for the title.

Ghana placed fourth at the 2012 edition of the African cup of nations held in Gabon and Equitorial Guinea.

Where is the Malawian coach? he thinks talking too much wins matches. How dare you promise to eliminate Ghana when no African country can boast of a 3-0 victory against the BS. Next time when meeting Ghana you watch how you talk.

  6. KWAME PITO says:

OH AFRICAN REFREES. WHEN WILL WE DEVELOP AS A CONTINENT AT ALL. THIS IS BACKWARDNESS IN IT’S PURE FORM. THE REFREE SHOWED NO CARD IN THE WHOLE GAME, IS IT CRICKET?
I SUSPECT HE LEFT HIS CARD SOMEWHERE. THIS MUST BE INVESTIGATED. IT SHOULD NOT SURPRISE US THAT INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS REFUSE TO GIVE THEIR ALL TO GAMES PLAYED ON THE CONTINENT. THERE IS TWO WORDS FOR THIS… SUB PAR.

  7. Assisi says:

Bravo. Ghana Black Stars has made my day. Now that we have qualified for the AFCON, Kwasi Nyantakyi has to file an appeal to CAF and FIFA so that Zambia and Sudan would replay the world cup qualifier match which Zambia claims they’ve been awarded 3 points and 3 goals. If Ghana dont appeal that decision, we are not going to qualify for the World Cup 2014 in Brazil because Zambia would have 6 points more than us which is an unassailable lead for us to catch them. FIFA can punish Sudan by fining them some amount of money, not awarding points to Zambia which is going to have a negative effect on Ghana.
FIFA and CAF, your decision to award points to a loser is wrong wrong and wrong. Think about the consequences for the other teams in the group as well before you award free points to a loser team like Zambia.
    Nyantakyi Appeal NOW!
