Kwadwo Asamoah is considering surgery after the knee injury

Ghana could lose their Italy-based  key playmaker Kwadwo Asamoah for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in January as he is considering knee surgery which could rule him out of action for two months.

Juventus is also set to be without the services of Asamoah for up to two months as he considers a knee operation.

This means will return to action at the end of January as the group stages of the competition in Equatorial Guinea would have ended.

The Africa Cup of Nations will start on 17 January and the Black Stars desperately need the playmaker to help them make an impact at the competition.

It was thought he would be ready to play in the midweek's Champions League match for Juventus after making a recovery, but press reports in Italy suggest that Asamoah is considering surgery to solve the knee problem.

The Ghanian last played in Juventus’ Champions League match on November 4, but has since been missing with a knee problem.

According to Tuttosport, the 25-year-old has been feeling pain in his knee due to inflammation and may not make the trip to Sweden to face Malmo in the Champions League.

It is thought that with Patrice Evra or Simone Padoin will take his place to face the Swedes.

The Bianconeri are keen to avoid surgery, but it may be the only solution to cure the issue, in which case Asamoah will be out for around two months.
