Wakaso will not play for Ghana when they take on Mali on Monday

Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso will miss Monday’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations match against Niger as he is suspended.

The influential Black Stars player pciked up his second yellow card of the competition on Thursday during their match against Mali.

Wakaso, who scored the opening goal of the match, celebrated by by lifting his shirt to show a religious message.

The ‘Allah is Great’ message on his shirt attracted the yellow card which adds to the the first caution Wakaso got in the Black Stars opening match against DR Congo last Sunday.

This means he will automatically be suspended from playing their last Group B match against Niger in Port Elizabeth.

His absence is a blow for Ghana as he has been instrumental in recent Black Stars matches.

thats okay. he was too happy 4 scoring the p.k

  4. Godsent says:

Keep it Wakasu, we are very proud of you.

  5. Viper says:

He is injured anyway…now lets go easy on Niger,442 or 433 with Solomon Asante and Atsu manning the wings giving them playing to express themselves and Gyan/Clottey as a striker. The defense did great job,we keep them,am not sure about Adam Kwaseray but if the coach is okay with Dauda,so be it.We played well today but again not many clear cut chances. As the tournament progress we have to go for the kill and 1 nil certainly won’t be enough.

  6. mukmin says:

Allahu Akbar we won, well done coach Appiah and the team. As long as you keep winning we are happy keep it up.

  7. Livingston says:

    Allah is great.

  8. Makaveli says:

Is it a deragotory msg? sme fifa rules are just biogus.

  9. kwame says:

He couldn’t have displayed the message after the game? This unprofessional behavior should not be celebrated. He might as well have kicked the ball boy.

  10. Ahmed says:

Well done team Ghana and congrats to Wakaso.. IF FIFA tries banning you APPEAL it.. Pieanaar wears a tshirt saying GOD IS GREAT and Kaka wears a tshirt saying I BELONG TO JESUS but they never got banned.. Keep up the goid work Ghana and good luck for the tournament.. Fan from UK!!!

  11. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

    GH VS MALI!
WE MUST BUILD MORE ON OUR 2 TOUCH AND PASSING ACCURACY. ESPECIALLY IN AND AROUND THE 18 YARD BOX.
    our PLAYERS LACK DISCIPLINE
TOO MANY UNECESSARY TACKLES. TOO MANY YELLOW CARDS. IT WILL HAUNT US LATER OOOOO
IN 2 GAMES, WE HAVE 6 YELLOW CARDS. IF WE BAG 3 YELLOW CARDS PER GAME IN THIS TOURNEY, WHERE WILL IT END US?
AA IS TOO HARDHEADED. CONTINUING TO USE AFFUL AT LEFTBACK IS A BAD IDEA.
IF AND WHEN WE MEET A BETTER OPPONENT, GH WILL PAY DEARLY
PAINSTIL SHOULD NOT BE STARTED ON THE RIGHT. BOYE, BOYE…WAT WAS HE THINKING? I TOLD U AA, NOT
TO START BOYE. DEFENDERS PROTECT THEIR GOALIES FROM HARM. WAT BOYE DID WAS VER VERY STUPID…
USE AFFUL ON THE RIGHT. WAKASSO OR KISSI ON THE LEFT/3. KASA AT THE 11. KASA HAS BEEN INACTIVE AND
USELESS IN MIDFIELD. USE HIM ON THE WING AT THE 11. LET HIM AND ATSU OVERLAP…
THE TEAM SHOULDNT BE TOO EXCITED. WE COULDNT SCORE FROM OPEN PLAY BUT THRU A PENALTY
GYAN WAS USELESS. EVEN THE WHITE COMMENTATORS SAID THEY WERENT IMPRESSED WITH GYAN THIS FAR.
KASA IN MIDFIELD WAS ALSO USELSS. THE SOLUTION: START CLOTTEY AHEAD OF GYAN. USE KASA ON THE 11,
ATSU ON THE 7 AS A SUB FOR ADOMAH
AA MUST STRIVE FOR PERFECTION!. STRIVE FOR PERFECTION!

  12. Ernesto says:

    Oh Why Wakaso to miss?

  13. NANA YAW says:

How about Mario Balloteli’s ( WHY ALWAYS ME)? Did the FA banned him for that.
