Ghana World Cup goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey manned the post and lasted the entire duration of the game for Norwegian giants Stromsgodset who suffered a narrow home defeat on their Uefa Champions League debut against Romanian giantsà Steaua Bucuresti on Wednesday night.Ã
The 26-year-old was unable to stopà Gabriel Cristian Iancu's 49th minute strike that proved the difference at theà Marienlyst Stadion in the Uefa Champions League qualifiers.
According to reports from Norway, Stromsgodset were unhappy with the shot-stopper's decision not to extend his contract at the club and wanted to bench him for the game.
However, manager David Jeanà Nielsen stuck to the former Norway youth international and fielded him alongside Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Abu in midfield but they suffered defeat before their home fans.
Should Kwarasey move in this summer's transfer window, he will beà cup-tied and that could limit his chances of joining a club playing in Europeââ¬â¢s flagship inter-clubs competition.
Kwarasey captained the side and Abu played in midfielder but youngster Nana Boateng who has recovered from injury following a surgery, sat on the bench for the entire duration of the game.
