Ghana to invite applications for new Black Stars coach, discards quest for technical adviser
Milovan Rajevac is set to appointed as the new coach of the Black Stars

Ghana FA will open the door for top-notch coaches across the globe to be considered for the vacant Black Stars coaching position as the federation has discarded the quest for a technical adviser following the sacking of Kwesi Appiah.

Appiah was sacked on Thursday by the Executive Committee of the GFA after two years in charge of the Black Stars which has sparked the search for a new coach.

Application for top coaches to apply for the post will be opened on Friday to hasten the appointment of the in-coming coach in time for next month's African Cup of Nations qualifying clashes against Guinea.

The GFA’s original plan, which was to have Rajevac assist Appiah as Technical Advisor, was discarded after what was deemed as poor performances against Uganda and Togo in the ongoing AFCON qualifiers.

After Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by Uganda in the first match of the AFCON qualifiers, the GFA resolved to sack Appiah if he went on to lose the following match against Togo in Lome.

Though Appiah managed to come away with a hard-fought 3-2 victory, the FA deemed his performance to be unsatisfactory and decided to get rid of him anyway.

With the quest for a technical adviser now discarded, Ghana is looking forward to appointing a new coach with just about four weeks before the Black Stars Guinea on 10 September in Morocco.

New applications will be received in the coming days before a new coach is named to formally take charge of the Black Stars for the qualifying matches at to reach the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Appiah is most likely to be replaced by his former boss, Milovan Rajevac, who has arrived in the country and has been interviewed by the GFA for the technical adviser role which can be transformed into the full Black Stars coach.

Rajevac, who returns to the team four years after leaving the job upon expiration of his contract, has already told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that he cannot wait to get into the job.

“I cannot wait to join the family again. I am very excited to be back here; my second home. It is always relaxing and I love it here,” he said earlier in the week.

The FA’s original plan, which was to have Rajevac assist Appiah as Technical Advisor, was discarded after what was deemed as poor performances against Uganda and Togo in the ongoing AFCON qualifiers.

Public opinion has been against Appiah since Ghana crashed out of the first round of the Brazil 2014 World Cup, earning only one point out of a possible nine.

It marked Ghana’s worst ever performance at the World Cup, and left many passionate Black Stars supporters disappointed.
