Ghana ended Egypt’s unbeaten run in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers after Tuesday heavy 6-1 win at home in the playoff first leg.
The Pharaohs had a 100 percent winning record after back-to-back wins over Guinea, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
Egypt had also scored 16 goals and conceded seven to top Group G with 18 points.
But Ghana proved too much for Bob Bradley’s men by dominating start to finish.
Egypt must now win the return leg on 19 November by five goals to nil to stand a chance of qualifying.
The North African played at the World Cup in 1990.
