Asamoah Gyan believes the Black Stars have gained the psychological urge over Zambia in the race to qualify to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The Ghanaians produced a fine display to put four unanswered goals past Sudan at home on Sunday to revive their hopes after Zambia were held 1-1 by Lesotho in Maseru.
The draw has left the Black Stars just a point behind the Chipolopolo in the race to top group D and the Al Ain striker believes they have gained the mental urge over their opponent.
ââ¬ÅIt was an important win for us and I believe psychological we have the urge to nick qualification,â⬠Gyan told GHANAsoccernet.com
ââ¬ÅOur mentality for the game changed when we learnt Zambia had drawn. Then it gave us an added impetus to see off the Sudanese.
ââ¬ÅWe have our destiny in our own hands and the next three games will be crucial.
ââ¬ÅNever mind the scoreline we had a good opposition and they will be tough at their own backyard. ââ¬ËBut like Iââ¬â¢ve said in the past, we want to go to the World Cup and the only way to achieve that is by winning.ââ¬
The Black Stars are second in the group with six points, just a point adrift of leaders Zambia.
