Former President Rawlings has justified the celebration of the June 4 uprising and questioned why some NDC and government officials are hesitant in participating in the commemoration.
He said the country is being led into a ditch by an inexperienced leadership and the principles that gave birth to the revolution are required to move the nation forward.
Addressing a June 4th rally in Alafo a while ago, the Former President said developments in the country vindicate his position that the Mills administration is heading for a defeat in the December 2012 elections.
?I would wish for my party to win the 2012 Elections? he said, asking ?how can you defeat Nana Akufo-Addo when you are rejecting the values of the June 4?
He said some members of the party who opposed the use of the current logo of the party are now acting like the Pope when the copyright issue comes.
He said some senior members of the party proposed the use of sheep as the logo when the party was looking for the most appropriate emblem until his wife, Nana Konadu, proposed the eagle on an umbrella.
He said ?we were not born out of corruption; we were not born out of mischief; but no! Some of us do not seem to appreciate the spirit of June 4. How can we win 2012 without the spirit of June 4??
Meanwhile former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has also condemned what she says are attempts to tarnish her image.
She denied ever receiving any $5 million from the government for the Nsawam Cannery, saying ?integrity is like a dress I wear. I live by integrity.?
She said she is not the owner of the Cannery and that she is ?fully accountable to the 31st December Women?s Movement and to the people of Ghana.?
She slammed the government for putting fear into people who dare to criticize it. She stated that members who tried to correct the ills in the government were ?crashed with a sledge hammer.?
