Fatau Dauda says he will stop Cristiano Ronaldo at the World Cup

Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has vowed to stop Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo from scoring against the Black Stars when the two sides clash at the World Cup in June.

The Orlando Pirates shot-stopper says stopping the world best player will make him famous as the world will be concentrating on the global tournament in Brazil.

The Real Madrid superstar is the reigning world best player and has been tipped as the dangerman in the Portugal squad at the tournament in Brazil.

Some Ghanaians fear that their current crop of players are not capable of stopping the former Manchester United player because of his trickery and pace.

However, Dauda insists stopping Ronaldo from scoring against the Black Stars on 26 June in Brasilia will boost his place as one of goalkeeping greats.

“I am always happy to play against the best in the world, because when I do well against them, I will get the credit,” Dauda told Accra-based Asempa FM.

“I am ready to save all his shots when we meet Portugal in Brazil,” the former Ashgold keeper opined.

Dauda, who made his move to South Africa in August last year, finally made his official debut for the club on Saturday in the South African top-flight when they lost 1-0 to Sundowns.

The 28-year-old, who is for now the Black Stars first-choice, has been under pressure to play matches before the World Cup with many claiming his period of inactivity could make his rusty for the tournament in Brazil.
