Pressure eased off Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda when he appeared in Orlando Pirates' team for the first time in their 3-1 win over Golden Arrows on Sunday.

Dauda sat on the bench of the South African club for the first time since signing from Ashanti Gold in the summer, boosting his World Cup chances.

The Ghanaian had been told that not playing a key part for his club in South Africa could cost him his first-choice spot in the Black Stars.

Dauda had even suggested that he could leave the club when the winter transfer window opens but fearing that he could leave to save his World Cup chances, Pirates have decided to offer him the chance.

His appearance on the club's bench will give him the hope that he could play in future matches for the club.

The result takes Pirates to 11th on the log, while Arrows stay rooted to the bottom.
