Pressure eased off Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda when he appeared in Orlando Pirates’ team for the first time in their 3-1 win over Golden Arrows on Sunday.

Dauda sat on the bench of the South African club for the first time since signing from Ashanti Gold in the summer, boosting his World Cup chances.

The Ghanaian had been told that not playing a key part for his club in South Africa could cost him his first-choice spot in the Black Stars.

Dauda had even suggested that he could leave the club when the winter transfer window opens but fearing that he could leave to save his World Cup chances, Pirates have decided to offer him the chance.

His appearance on the club’s bench will give him the hope that he could play in future matches for the club.

The result takes Pirates to 11th on the log, while Arrows stay rooted to the bottom.

Bench warming a boost to get selected for the World Cup?

    • OGYA says:

Man, this dude is a bench warmer, so how does that improve his world cup chances.

GSN is a useless blogging site. Akwesi Appiah and GFA should stop taking money from this guy and let the best goalkeeper ADAM KWARASEY be in the post. There is no competition between the two at all.

The talent difference between them is soo wide. Fatau Dauda should be carrying Adam Kwarasey’s boots.

  2. real Sabacious says:

I hope he can use his black magic and claim the first spot just like he did to kwarasey lol

    • Ghanaba says:

Can you proof your wild allegation? It is only natural for a player to dip in form because they are humans and not machines! It happened to Kwarasey during the Africa cup because their league was over and he was not active for sometime. Given Kwaresays current form, as much as i wish he is given a chance to convince us of his capabilities in Ghana shirt, I will not accuse anyone.

wat sort of rubbish aricle is that.our number one goalkeeper sitting on Orlando Pirates bench and ghanasoccernmet is hyping this story.how much did Fatau Duada pay you to do this PR gimmick for him.Let us be serious for once.Dauada has lost his reflexes.we saw it in the Egypt game and if we close our eye to it we wewillend up being punished by portugal.he is very bad at corner kick and schwinstiger and c.ronaldo are waiting for him.they wud not spare him.AkwasiPpiah be bold and call a spade a spade.u have to active keepera whio are playing week in week out.

    • Kwabena says:

Although I agree with you on the fact that it is no achievement to sit on the bench of Orlando Pirates, I think you are being unfair to Dauda. In the Egypt game, there were many circumstances and issues. The laser light thing was problematic. We remember how Damba claimed that laser light distorted his view in Algeria in 1993, 20 years ago. The second goal that beat Dauda was due to a distraction by that firecracker that fell on the pitch. So please, be objective in your judgment.
I agree that Dauda’s role as second keeper in Pirates is extremely bad. A great country like Ghana cannot have its first goalkeeper sitting on a bench in a league like the SA PSL. It is quite a headache. BUT DAUDA DESERVES MORE SENSITIVITY AND MORE RESPECT THAN THIS!

@Prince i 100% agree with u buddy…i dont even know what to say again..a bench warmer player is a boost for our Almighty Black Stars team? oh c’moon spears us if its a joke u GSN pouring into our r ears pls stop it,b’cos we are not ready for such an expensive comedy like this, huh! Besides Fatau is no good enough to be our no.1 goaliee in the wc.Kwarasey deserves that period!! am done!!

  5. Kwabena says:

In my opinion, even if Dauda gets the number 1 spot in Orlando Pirates, he is not up to the standard of a World Cup number 1 goalkeeper. He has NOT played with White people before. That is the reason why Kwarasey was dropped. He had not played with Africans in his life. So he was jittery in the AFCON. Plus the juju and spirituality in AFCON matches were too much for Kwarasey. But in the World Cup, we need technique and players who can play with White people. Kwarasey is number 1 in his club. He has led the club to qualify for the UEFA Champions League so he deserves a chance. There have been times where we have made mistakes in selections. An example is the use of Yiadom Boakye at AFCON 2013. Warris was left off the hook. BUT it was Assifuah who led the Under 20 ahead of Yiadom and Warris played the most crucial roles in our qualification. So I believe the time to use Kwarasey has come.

  6. Papadinho says:

Fuck Dauda and Fuck his juju provider. Aaah this jujuman is warmking the bench in SA and he’s a boost for the WC? heeelllllll nooooooo!!!! He will break hied legs i n Jesus name! Amen!! Appuu
More vim to Kwarasey and more prayers on his behalf because dauda is a jujuman. He will even die when he tries shit against Kwarasey because the prayers is on high!4
    PS: Fuck u GSN

  7. MACOFF says:

Ghana is a great Nation in even Football we re been classify us Africa Best. So i si no reason why our goaliee should warming de bench.we must give ADEM K. de chance to mak us Proud in de World Cup. GFA. dat GOOD NAME IS BETTER DEN RICHES
