Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda admits to his mistake during Orlando Pirates’ shock 1-0 defeat to Mpumalanga Black Aces in the South African top flight game on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old was handed a rare start due to the suspension of regular Senzo Meyiwa.

Dauda is yet to taste a win in post for the Bucs since his arrival at the beginning of the season.

The former AshantiGold shot-stopper has featured in two previous competitive matches for the South African giants but is yet to be on the winning side.

Dauda conceded a cheeky goal late in the game which eventually proved to be the winner.

The Black Stars goalkeeper has put up his hand to admit to the collective mistake of his team of defending the free kick that saw him concede the winner.

“We made a mistake on the wall – as a goalkeeper you put up a solid wall to protect the goal,” he said.

“The shot was low and the guys on the wall jumped, which is normal sometimes, but it was difficult for me to go back and save the ball.

“Football is like this. We have to make fewer mistakes in the future.”

This dude is a comedian. He was awful.l thought is this the sort of Goalkeeper , we are taking to the world cup ? Then we should be prepared to come home early.

    • GHFUO, be serious & change ur MENtality says:

WHO IS BRASIL NO. 1 GOALIE? WAT CLUB DOES HE PLAY FOR? EXACTLY, THIS BRASILIAN GOALIE WAS AT QPR N THEY SUCKED BUT BCOS HE WAS THE NUMBER 1 GOALIE FOR QPR N CONSTANTLY GETTING EXPERIENCE. SCOLARI PICKED HIM TO START AT THE CONFED CUP N WE ALL SAW HOW GOOD HE WAS. ALL DAUDA NEEDS IS CONSTANT PLAY TIME. THE LIFE OF A GOALIE IS QUITE BORING, EVEN IN A GAME. THE MORE PLAY TIME DAUDA GETS. THE LESS RUSTY HE WILL BE

  2. Dr Who says:

hey Mr writer,he did not say it was his mistake…he said we.it was collective.what do you expect the keeper to do when the players forming the wall decide to jump and the ball directed on the ground?

    • askantwi says:

The keeper has to be prepared for any eventualities. He should know that the players may jump to block the flying ball, and that the kicker may deliver a low shot to deceive them. Dauda should have been alert to all that.

  3. spellBOUND says:

    Dauda, forget brazil.

I DNT KNO HOW GHANAIANS CAN BE SOO SELFISH.EVERY KEEPER MAKES A BLUNDER.I WATCHED THE MATCH AND
IT WAS NOT HIS FAULT.DAUDA QUALIFY US TO THE WORLDCUP AND THIS IS WHAT HE GETS AH.JUS COS HE IS ON BENCH DOES NOT MEAN HE HAS ROTTEN.AT THE END OF THE DAY HE STILL PRACTICE.GH
HAS RUIN SOO MANY GREAT PLAYERS.BALOTELI DID THE RIGHTS
THING NOT TO PLAY FOR GHANA,

    • OGYA says:

Banger, I hope you are not dreaming, Fatau did not qualify the Black Stars to the World Cup for your information. The Black Stars could have qualified with any of the goalkeepers we had. But I can assure you that If Kwarasey or any of the rest had been in the post, we wouldn’t have given up some of the flimsy goals he gave up.

Practice make perfect and you do get that by being on the field for your team consistently. He has not done that, hence the mistake of his last game, blaming it on the wall. This is exactly what is making a lot of Ghanaians nervous. In the world cup giving up goals like that means going home early.

Your references to Balotelli and the others are pure garbage, Balotelli’s inferiority complex coupled with his weak mindedness were the result of his decision. We are still doing fine without him.

  5. Papadinho says:

ahahahahahah stupid keeper!!! What do u expect the guys to do??? to sleep on the floor for u? Kwasiakwa!!1 You’re the worst keeper i’ve ever seen. U in the post at the WC speels doom foor us.
Stay away from the Black Stars!!
    Bless

  6. Ghanaman says:

Dauda is a very good goal-keeper who helped us qualify to the World Cup losing only 2 matches. AA is so right that Dauda is Ghana’s number one stopper.

    • spellBOUND says:

chale, dauda did not qualify anyone to the mundial. no single person did. it was a team effort, but if u want to praise 1 particular player, i will give it to gyan, as he scored crucial goals when we needed it. why do u want a benchwarmer in post in brazil??? please answer that…

  7. agape says:

@Banger thanks very much. That is how Ghanaians are, they dont appreciate what they have. They are like Adam&Eve.They criticise anything, everyday, everytime thats why we are not moving forward as country. You want to destroy this young man by criticising him.Fatau be
strong, dont listen to anybody, just continue to train had.You are Ghana’s
No 1 goalkeeper at the moment!!!

  8. Papadinho says:

@ghanaman: fuck u and fuck u again!! Stupid fool!! odwan. Wo maame wate!! Kwasia like u. You will die with lies!!! Kwasia boy

  9. Papadinho says:

If dauda keeps for ghana at the wc, ronaldo en co will score with their eyes closed!! He dauda should take this advice: Please dauda switch nationality for somalia and play for them. At least they will make good use of your useless self. please do this cause we don’t need and will never need u. If u force your way with juju and bribe, your legs will break and that will be the end of u. Kwasia boy!!!
    Bless

  10. alex says:

Benny, spellbound nd papadinho, I can see u ppl are against dauda everytime if u wana die prematurely den keep tlkng shit as u been doing on dis site, stupid fools, God is great, leave him alone!!

  11. sticky straw says:

@banger may god bless u saying the truth the same thing was done to Sammy adjei, after qualifying Germany 2006 out of frustration he quit black stars oo ghanaians are we fools?, oo ghanaians are we animals,?oo ghanaians are The most ungrateful black human race on earth.that’s why the country is in the hands of wrong and corrupt people we hate the truth the cedis is running like usain bolt to the dollar .. Leave fatau dauda alone because he too is someone’s father, brother and son aa!!BA! Because of this stupid team called black stars which has never won a cup since 1982

    • Kofi says:

I dont get you guys, because the guy kept the post in the qualifiers he should still keep the post even if he is no more active? then we must as well invite Osei Kofi and co to the world cup because they won the cup of nations for us. This arguement about a player helping us to qualify so should be rewarded with a world cup call up doesn’t hold water because they were paid bonuses after every match. You guys should give better reasons why he should be part of the team rather than this lame arguement. The Black star is not anybody’s property, it is for players who are active in their various team and not those that sit on the bench and watch matches from the bench instead of playing. Fatua was very good when playing for Ashgold because he was regular and therefore active but not now. We should take keepers who are active to the world cup. AA will make the greatest mistake in his coaching career if he keeps Fatau in the post.

  12. banger says:

PAPADINHO ALL THIS INSULTING IS NOT CALLED FOR.WE ARE JUS STATIN OUR OPINIONS.U ACTIN LIKE A 5YRS OLD RETARD.I REALLY BELIEVE YOUR MOM DROPED U WHEN U WAS A CHILD.U SHOULD ASK HER.IDIOTS LIKE U COMES HERE AND RUN THAT YELLOW TEETH OF YOURS,

  13. Dr Who says:

Fatau qualified Ghana to the WC by keeping the post…that is a fact any of his haters can never do anything about it…

  14. Dr Who says:

@askantwi,what did the players see before jumping? they were there to block the ball so if you dont see the ball flying why do you jump…you are blaming Fatau bcos u hate him just like that.he will continue to bench your favourite Kwarasey because he lacks confidence…just look at the shambolic goal he conceeded against guinea in Afcon 2012 and the friendly against Tunisia prior to afcon 2013..

    • spellBOUND says:

really dr. who???? whats the distance between the ball and the wall???? how many people in the world have reflexes as quick as light to see where the ball is going to react to it????????? 0%.

jumping in the wall is a traditional implication, its not a reactionary measure because over 95% of free kicks are meant to go above the wall. on free kicks, goals are more likely to be scored over the wall than below it. ask better questions mate.

dada’s case is not hate. we don’t know this man personally to hate him. it is an issue of him as a benchwarmer. jittery in post and the coach going back on his word to play only active players. you’ve pointed out kwaresay’s errors. dauda may i remind u isn’t error free.

  15. Papadinho says:

@banger: eeh dude where u living at? Do u know me? Kwasia im just letting the boy know that she’s going with the lie. And peeps that goes with lies are as good as dead!!
    Bless

  16. Ghanaman says:

@papadinho…young man if your belly is too fool with fufu and Kenke,I advise u to go sleep .Why do u hate Dauda so much, did he hijack your girlfriend???

  17. Kane says:

This story is a lie Fatau is apparently dating a girl who lives in London called Nelly and currently has her own hair company called Cheveux De Nelly and Fatau broke up with his girlfriend because he wants to marry Nelly he even paid reporters in Ghana to publish stories about de hair business she is doing to also make her famous !!!!
