Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi wants to use the World Cup appearance to build a solid foundation for the sport in the country.

The Black Stars are playing their third consecutive finals but the federation wants to do something different.

“Build a strong basis in coaching, refereeing, sports medicine and youth football so that our qualification would not be a nine-day wonder,” Nyantakyi said on Joy FM.

“Prior to 2006 we never got there so it was big news for us to go to the World Cup. Now how do you sustain that momentum of qualifying to the World Cup is what you should look at.

“You must have a strong youth system that will support the regeneration of football talents into the senior team that will ensure that you qualify to subsequent World Cups so that Ghana goes to the next World Cup in Russia, the next World Cup in Qatar and the next World Cup after that wherever it is,” he said.

This world cup will be symbolical for Ghana, should we get out of this group,Ghana football will be widely respected, moreover getting out of this group will also mean,we are good to match any side.Hopefully we qualify from the group to etch our name in world football.

Football playing fields are very horrible in Ghana. Why don’t you spend time to improve that. There is technology everywhere but we seem to always have the most inferior fields. Just look at south Africa, even cameroon and the Congos. Its a shame. We always seem to have a guy with a mower mowing the football fields for our games, it takes more than that Nyantakyi

^^^ I agree whole heartedly…the playing field ruins our football so much, it amazing. I’ve noticed that africans place more emphasis on the stadia built and so much less emphasis on the pitch…to dem, so far as the stadia are beautiful, the pitch can be black for all dey care. The afcon is one tourney I seem to see this trend in…nice stadia, horrible pitch yet caf says nothing…when u’re watch the match, which is all dat matters, u look at the players ON DA PITCH, not the stadium’s interior decoration. Nyantekyi, improve upon our playing field…u and the ministry shud ensure that our national stadia have the best of the best pitches there is and I promise u, most of our ugly football will be a thing of the past. Also help build smaller stadia with very gud pitches for the other teams. No body will take u serious when ur national stadium, ohene djan’s grass is indistinguishable from the habitat for b3la.
