Ghana FA technical director Oti disappointed with Maidens snub

Posted On Friday, 21st December 2012

Oti is sad Ghana missed out on the women's team of the year award

Ghana Football Association technical director Francis Oti Akenten is downhearted after Ghana’s female U17 team failed to win the African women’s team of the year award.

The Black Maidens were snubbed for the prestigious award as African champions Equatorial Guinea were handed the award at the awards gala in Accra on Thursday.

Ghana became the first African side to reach a medal place in the history of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after placing third in the 2012 edition held in Azerbaijan in October.

Akenten who doubles as a CAF technical instructor has mourned the miss.

“I’m very downhearted because we all expected to win the award but it went to another country,” he told Accra-based Happy.
