Ghana FA rules out coach Rajevac return - backs Appiah fully

The Ghana Football Association says the door is shut on former coach Milovan Rajevac-who wants a second spell with the Black Stars.

The Serbian trainer said on a local radio station last week, he would be interested in coaching Ghana again after a successful two-year spell between 2008 and 2010.

But the Ghana FA- who appointed local man Kwesi Appiah to replace another Serb Goran Stevanovic this April-says there is no vacancy for the former Vojvodina coach.

“Kwesi Appiah is fully in charge of the Black Stars and there are no plans to replace him,” Sannie Daara told Happy FM.

“We have given him a full contract just like we give to the foreign coaches and he has our full backing.

“We are satisfied with the work he is doing with the Black Stars and he is fully concentrating on our matches ahead.

“We can’t stop coaches like Rajevac from being interested in the Black Stars job but we are sorry to say that there is no vacancy.”

Rajevac rejected a contract extension in September 2010 to sign for Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli in a lucrative deal.

The 55-year-old was later appointed Qatar national team coach but was dismissed after only four months in charge.

Rajevac won silver medals at the maiden African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals in 2009 and 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

He led the Black Stars to a last eight berth at the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals.

We are not qualifying to the worldcup with Appiah period. He is a yes man and have no coaching brains to do anything with the BlackStars.

We are going to be a joke.

  6. coconutman says:

Very well said Mr Saani Daara, there is no vacancy and Ghanaians are going to back Coach Appiah 100% but another lose to a minnow country like Zambia, Malawi, Sudan or Lesotho and Rajevac is back in action. There must not be any more slip ups to countries that are below Ghana in the ranking table.

  7. Jacksonzambia says:

@Coconutman keep your rankings, your european basd players and your coach bt victory belongs to us the minnows and underdogs.
