The Ghana FA has received Ghc 100,000 ($53,163) as sponsorship money from Ricemaster for the Black Stars.

The money which is for the 2012/13 season is in fulfillment of the rice firm’s pledge to become the official meal sponsor of the Black Stars.

The team is set to start preparation towards the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, hence the perfect timing of the cash boost.

"We are really grateful to Ricemaster's for their support for the Black Stars over the years. This money comes at a time that we are preparing for the Cup of Nations," Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi said at a brief presentation ceremony on Tuesday.

The Black Stars will be aiming to end a 31-year wait for an African title by the time the tournament kicks off in South Africa on January 19.

Ghana is drawn in Group B to be based in Port Elizabeth alongside, Mali, Niger and DR Congo.

The Black Stars play their first match on January 20 against DR Congo at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
