Kwesi Nyantakyi has declared the Ghana FAââ¬â¢s readiness to fight the alleged age-cheating case against the Black Starlets even if it means proceeding to the CAS.
Ghana risks a ban on all of its aged teams following CAFââ¬â¢s decision to disqualify the Black Starlets from next yearââ¬â¢s Africa Junior Championships for allegedly using an over-aged player during the qualifiers.
All participating teams in the Africa U17 qualifiers are required to use players whose required age ranges have been verified through an MRI test.
A subsequent test conducted by CAF on one of the Ghanaian players used during the qualifiers allegedly shows the player is over-aged upon a protest by Cameroon â⬓ the team Ghana beat over two-legs to qualify for the finals to be staged in Niger.
But the GFA have appealed this decision by CAF and say they are prepared to battle this case all the way through to going before the Courts of Arbitration for Sports for a fair hearing and judgment.
ââ¬ÅWe are prepared to see this case through to its logical end,â⬠GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi told Kessben FM.
ââ¬ÅThere is the FIFA appeals committee and also the opportunity to go to CAS if we are not satisfied with the outcome of the case.
ââ¬ÅThis is a novel case in the sense that it will be the first time a country will be banned from football based on the MRI.
ââ¬ÅIt has nothing to do with an administration. It is purely medical and we have armed ourselves with every medical information to fight this case.
ââ¬ÅFIFA itself has its standards and ranges when it comes to the MRI. There is even a case where three radiologists came out with different opinions on a single MRI scan.
ââ¬ÅIn such a situation, FIFA looks at the averages of these different opinions to reach a decision.ââ¬
