Ghana FA opts to use Black Meteors to face Nigeria in friendly
Black Meteors will face Nigeria in the friendly next month

Ghana have decided to use the country's strong U23 side the Black Meteors to face Nigeria in an international friendly next month, the Ghana FA has announced.

The country has been invited to play Nigeria in an international friendly on November 7 to open the newly built Akpa Ibom Stadium in Uyo.

The Ghana FA has decided that with several of the players of the U23 side forming the nucleus of the home-based national team the Local Black Stars it is prudent to use the players for the assignment.

The Black Meteors who are currently in camp at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, will use the match as part of their preparations for the upcoming qualifiers for the All–Africa games.

President Goodluck Jonathan is scheduled to attend the grand opening of the stadium with many international football icons such as Brazil’s Pele also invited for the occasion.
