Ghana FA to meet Kwesi Appiah's lawyers over severance package for ex-Black Stars coach
Kwesi Appiah will discuss his pay-off terms with the Black Stars next week

The Ghana FA will meet the lawyers of Kwesi Appiah next week to discuss the severance package for the ex-Black Stars coach who mutually agreed to leave the post.

The former Ghana captain left as the Black Stars coach by mutual consent, the country's football association (GFA) confirmed on Friday.

It was widely rumoured that $800,000 must be paid by the GFA over the pre-mature departure but the federation says both parties must agreed on the amount based on the contract he signed.

The GFA says the two parties will meet over the severance package of the coach based on the contract of the Kwesi Appiah.

"The two parties met on Friday morning to reach the agreement on the departure of Mr. Appiah," the GFA said in a statement on its official website.

"The lawyers of the two parties will meet next week to decide on the severance package for Mr. Appiah based on the contract of his appointment."

Appiah leaves a few days after helping Ghana claim a 3-2 victory over Togo in an exciting African Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Black Stars had opened their qualifying campaign with a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Uganda.

The 54-year-old took over at the team in April 2012 and became the first African to steer Ghana to a World Cup place after they reached the 2014 Brazil finals.

However, they failed to replicate their impressive showing at the 2010 finals after finishing bottom of their group with a solitary point.
