Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials have ended their inspection of facilities to be used by the Black Stars during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi and assistant coach Maxwell Konadu arrived in Port Elizabeth on Thursday to inspect facilities where the Black Stars will be based during the tournament.

This came just one day after the Black Stars were drawn in Group B to based in Port Elizabeth to face DR Congo, Mali and Niger.

The Ghana officials, keen on effective planning for the competition, inspected the Garden Court Hotel and the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium which will be used by the Black Stars during the tournament.

But they were unhappy over the state of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University pitch which will serve as the training ground for the Black Stars during the competition.

They have now received assurances from officials of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) that the training facility will be improved before the tournament starts.

“We had to come here to see the facilities for ourselves to ensure that they were up standard before the tournament starts,” Nyantakyi told Ghanafa.org.

“We are very happy with the team hotel and the stadium where our group matches will be played.

“We have some concerns about the quality of the training pitch and officials of the LOC have assured us that it will be put in a good shape before we arrive for the tournament.”

The Black Stars will open their campaign against DR Congo before playing Mali and Niger.

Honestly speaking did ghana even need to inspect the stadiums”Saying we needed to ensure they met the standards”which facilities n accra or kumasi can even match the facilities wich are in polokwane which is far from being capital of SA.it is europe n africa my friends dat wat SA is.

  4. zambians are pigs says:

What is important is that Akwasi Appiah gets all the players on time to prepare adequately.
We have a team capable of anything imaginable in football.
There will be no point in going to inspect the pitch only for Nyantakyi to go round collecting bribes from our foreign bases players teams and have the players turn up 2days to the tournament like it happen with AFCON 2012.DEDE AYEW,JORDAN AYEW,KWADWO ASAMOAH AND AGYEMAN BADU TURNED up 3days to the tournament because they had to play some so called important matches for their teams.Nyantakyi could not use the FIFA clause to force marseille and udinese to release the players .When asked why DEDE,JORDAN,AGYEMAN BADU AND KWADWO ASAMOAH turned up late and why he failed to use the FIFArule,HE NAIVELY SAID THE GFA HAS A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH BOTH TEAMS.
The abysmal performance in Afcon 2012 is the result of the GFA’S greediness to line their pockets.Plavi did not have ample time to prepare a team.In the end,PLAVI was sacked.
Akwasi Appiah needs to be vigilant to fend off any greedy ACTIVITY of the Gfa.

  5. Dr Who says:

Picking players who are committed, dedicated & willing to serve the nation should be one of the reasons for call ups into the BS.Playing regularly for your club is not enough to merit call ups.secondly, interchanging positions between Atsu,Dede and K Asamoah during play will bring back the AFCON cup.

AA SHOULD EVEN LEAVE MUNTARI OFF AFCON 2013. HE DIDNT DO ANYTHING AT AFCON 2012.. ATSU AND WAKASO WHOULD BE OUR NUMBER 11. KWADWO ASAMOAH AND DEDE WILL BE OUR ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS. DEDE CAN EVEN PLAY AS A STRIKER SOMETIMES.

  8. Divaro says:

Hahahaha… It’s pathetic. Ghanafuo calling someone uncultured. It’s only a bastard who is also a fool with an uncultured mentality that will mind you.
