The Ghana FA insists the Accra sports stadium will host Black Stars matches sooner rather than later.
The Black Stars have played their home matches in the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign in Kumasi with the crucial pay-offs against Egypt expected to take place at the Baba Yara stadium on Tuesday October 15.
Kumasi fans have been hailed for the way and manner they support the national team with players openly declaring their preference to play in front of enthusiastic and vociferous fans.
But there others who feel the FA has treated Accra fans unfairly by denying them the chance to see the Black Stars play at the Accra sports stadium in over two years.
But the Association’s Communication Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has downplayed such talks and insists the Black Stars will play in Accra sooner rather than later.
“The Black Stars will play in Accra very soon. I am not sure it will be too long,” Daara told Peace FM
“All over the world, there are normally one venue that receives more support for national team matches.
“It’s not peculiar to Ghana . So we believe Kumasi fans have been amazing and that’s why the players enjoy playing there.
“That nothwistanding Accra fans are are equally fantastic and so I believe in due time the Black Stars will play here.
“When you see the level of enthusiasm that are shown by the fans at even our training session at the Paa Joe Kumah Park, you will marvel. They are amazing.
“It’s not a deliberate ploy to deny Accra fans the chance to see our national team in action. It’s just that at the moment we’re playing in Kumasi.
“But like I said, Accra fans will also see some Black Stars action soon.”
Sulley Muntari, Emmanuel Frimpong, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu and captain Asamoah Gyan amongst others have in the past paid glowing tribute to the incredible Kumasi fans.
