Coach Kwesi Appiah has not released his squad for the World Cup qualifiers

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has rubbished a new Black Stars list making rounds in the local media believed to be the squad that will play in next month’s World Cup qualifiers.

According to the list published on a website, big names such as captain John Mensah and his deputy John Paintsil have been dropped.

However, in an official statement on its website, the GFA denied such reports, adding that new coach Kwesi Appiah will make his squad public in due course.

The west Africans will be playing Lesotho and Zambia in June and new names are already being suggested in the media as potential replacements for some of the old guard.

“The Ghana Football Association wishes to assure the media and the public that the squad has not been released,” the statement said.

“Announcements for call-ups to the national teams will be released via the official media channels of the Ghana Football Association.”

  1. GFA CANT MESS WITH GHANAIANS. says:

Mensah and Paintsil should be dropped of course. They have done their best and it’s time for others to come in as well. We can’t rely on them all the time. After all, they don’t have the qualities to be called into the national team anymore. The national team is not a family affairs please. If GFA continues like this, Ghanaian football will never go far. Go round and look at the European National teams. They don’t care who you are so far as you have done a lot for the National team and don’t have lost the qualities to do it again. Please there are a lot of players out there who are very hungry to play for the nation. Call them and leave the old ones who are out of form. Kwesi Appiah, we have given you the support to take over the Black Stars and if you dare continue with what has been the past, trust me, you won’t last for long.

  2. Bernard Adu says:

Terror you are right J.K Appiah has not released his list so there is no need to conclude on the suggested list let us support him to come out with his own list of players, and for all you know the captain and his deputy are commited to black stays when ever they are fit and on form
