Ghana FA chief backs Boateng’s return to Black Stars

Posted On Thursday, 26th April 2012

Kevin-Prince Boateng could return to the Black Stars

By Patrick Akoto

Kwesi Appiah’s quest to coax retired player Kevin-Prince Boateng back to the Black Stars has received the full backing of the country’s Federation.

The Ac Milan player called time on his international football last November after claiming the demands for playing for both club and country was taken a toll on his physical condition.

It was widely believed the 25-year-old had clashed with ex-Ghana boss Goran Stevanovic.

But the newly appointed Black Stars coach will fly out to Milan to hold showdown talks with the player in an apparent attempt to persuade the former Tottenham enforcer to return to the National team.

And that has received the full backing of the Ghana Federation.

“Any effort to bring in quality players from anywhere will be welcomed and so we’ll encourage him to embark on such an adventure,” FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi said.

We want the best for the national team and so if succeeds we’ll welcome him with open arms,”

Boateng came into prominence after he featured for the Black Stars at the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa where he shone to attract Italian giant Ac Milan to swoop for his services.

He resigned; he did not call time off, that was what you made us believe. Yes! we need him, but will he rescind his decision? His reason was frequent injuries. He is still complaining about injuries, even without any national duty. If he comes, and will play to his fullest, all well and good.

  2. Boba Fett says:

i think we should give him time to fully heal and above all show concern in his present situation.

  3. aa says:

Ghana is a disgrace. I am not at all proud of the GFA. Not at all

  4. idiami says:

who at all is k.p boateng?

    • Obiba says:

kpb is a good player by all standard, and many countries would have included him in their squads. He could have changed the outcome of our CAN2012 if he was in the team and played 100% of his capability. His problem is indiscipline, and lack of respect (is that patriotism?) for Ghana.

      • aa says:

You are stupid because we included him in our squad and he disrespected us. I did know Ghana was on a football life support and needed to bow to KPB to give them oxygen. If this guy joins Ghana again, that will be the last time I will ever get involved with Ghanaian football

        • Obiba says:

Should you insult before you make your opinion heard? You need to be civilized, especially to the unknown.

By the way, what’s your contribution to Ghana football that you think withdrawal of your involvement will cause the beautiful game in Ghana?

          • aa says:

It is not an insult. It is a disgrace. Civilised? You should check yourself! Ghana is my homeland and will say when they are cheapening themselves. You cannot wash our national pride in dirt!

  5. Whether we like it or not, he is the fiercest Ghanaian player at the moment. Yes he wronged us but a Human being as he is and we all are, mistakes are bound to happen one way or the other in our lives. If a son Tells his Mum that he is no more a family member, the Mum doesn’t let go bcos the son said so, The Mum still pushes to get her son back. Please let us welcome him if he changes his mind to come back home.

  6. kuuku says:

Will he play all the qualifying games or wait 4 the food 2 be ready then he will come eat..

  7. king says:

All these issues should be sorted out behind the scene. GFA and the Coach shouldn’t treat this issue as public consumption. Treat it with courtesy outside the media and the result might be productive. KPB publicly announced his retirement to the world, therefore careful approach must be used not the media.

  8. wan-mono says:

Lets make an intellectual analysis on this KPB guy void of compassion. He publicly declared his retirement from international football because of injuries. With his current injury problem at Milan wouldn’t he worsen his injuries if he should combine both club and country? Do the GFA want him to use BS again to revive his football career as its speculated here in italy that AC Milan wants to off load him because of this same injury problems. He shun the BS and gave his best to AC Milan so his injuries could be minimized. Why do the GFA still want to invite the traitor back to BS.honestly i GFA should wise up. There are equally quality Ghanaian players out there who want similar opportunities as his but they dont get. We want patriotic players for the BS who are willing to give their all for the success of BS and Ghana at large.

  9. aa says:

I like KPB for his football but disregard him as a Ghanaian player, in case any of u think I am his hater. Playing for Ghana goes beyond wearing a jersey. Some people live their live dreaming to play for Ghana. Others like Laryea Kingston Left their clubs to play for Ghana. You guys must be flipping kidding me

  10. JNR says:

Ghana FA, good luck because you will be needing it when it’s about KPB. It’s such a shame you will lower yourself to be disgraced like that when he has already stated he doesn’t want to play for us anymore, which part of that didn’t you understand? This is ridiculous and Ghana will be a laughing stock around the world for being rejected by a loser who used us for recognition.

    This is terrible!!!

  11. benny says:

How stupid can AKwasi Appiah and the GFA be.This is a disgrace. This is a clear indication that Akwasi Appiah has no strategy as a coach.
Why can’t they live this NAZI TRAITOR alone.KPB sees himself as a big superstar who will not mingle with jungle dwellers and canibals, a common expression used to for AFRICANS in EAST GERMANY.

  12. @idiami u r a fucking shit, just get out ur jealousy shit.u talkd ill of essien yesterday n today too kelvin.dis guy is a world class player n we need his services in our team.fuck u idiami u seem to jealous ghana in general.bomboclarck
