Ghana FA boss reiterates position on women's game

Ayieyam one of the sure bets to get promoted to senior team

By Ameenu Shardow

Kwasi Nyantakyi has re-enforced his declaration that Ghana will conquer Africa in women’s football in the next two years.

The Ghana FA boss had made this categorical statement last month ahead of Ghana’s participation at both the U-20 and U-17 women’s World Cup in Germany and Azerbaijan respectively.

And though the Black Princesses were woeful in their campaign in Germany, the Black Maidens restored pride by winning an historical bronze medal in Azerbaijan.

The U-17 girls were accorded a ruptrous reception upon their return on Monday night where the Ghana FA boss restated his position on the women’s game.

“Their (Black Maidens) performance was historic because this is the first time a women’s team have won a medal at the World Cup,” Nyantakyi said.

“I on behalf of the Ghana FA want to officially welcome you back home.

“With this performance I am very confident that in the next two years, Ghana will conquer Africa.

“Some of you will be promoted to the Black Princesses and other will be promoted to the senior team.

“We will not only conquer at the junior level but also at senior level and subsequently at the World Cup.”

Ayieyam can play better than Asamoa Gyan. She should be promoted to the senior side ASAP. She has all the qualities it takes to go to the AFCON. Unfortunately, she is female else I would advise coach Apia to drop Gyan and pick her. In fact, she knows how to play one-top better than Asamoa Gyan.

Are happy of what you have written? It exposes your level of maturity. Asamoah Gyan won BBC African player of the year, has any Nigeria won anything in the past ten years?
why do you start a fight that you cannot win?

@ kay- r u happy with what U have written? U didn’t even reply to the guy. Past accolades rule football now, ur current forms nothing anymore. Thank God u’re not the coach otherwise God knows the kind of players who would be getting play tym in ur team. and u fail to see he used hyperbole to show how ineffective gyan is but u wouldn’t care about that, u sure love to be trolled.
