Ghana Federation president Kwesi Nyantakyi has backed Berekum Chelsea to qualify to the group phase of the Caf Champions League.

The Ghanaian champions will fly out to Cameroon to face CotonSports in a crucial return fixture of the final qualifying round of Africa’s elite club competition.

The Blues faces a daunting task after they were held at home by the resolute and disciplined Cameroonian League leaders.

But the country’s football chief is confident they can scale the hurdle.

“I’m positive about their chances to qualify. The pressure will be on the home side and that will work in our favour,” Nyantakyi said

“They’re our only representative in the competition and so their success will inure to the benefit of Ghana Football.

“It will boost the image of our local league and so we our thought and prayers are with them this weekend,”
