The Ghana Football Association has confirmed the appointment of Maxwell Konadu as the assistant coach of the Black Stars.

The Asante Kotoko tactician was widely tipped as the man to deputize for Kwesi Appiah after making the Kumasi based side an attractive side in his first term in charge.

Kotoko’s impressive performance in the country’s top-flight league has been largely attributed to the experience, personality and the knowledge of the game of the former All Stars boss.

The duo worked wonders to hand the West African powerhouse their first ever gold medal in football at the 2011 All Africa Games held in Maputo and there Â many who feel the highly respected coach is the ideal candidate for the Black Stars position.

Medeama SC’ goalkeeper trainer Nasam Yakubu will take over the mantle from long-standing Eddie Ansah who has been re-assigned to the country’s Under-20 side.

Experienced welfare officer Opoku Afriyie has been moved to the Olympic team with Liberty Professionals Sarbahn Quaye taken over his position in the national team.

There was no space for Dr Percy Annan, whose position as the medical officer has been assumed by Dr Adam Baba with Col Ofosu Anim appointed as the Physiotherapy of the team while Samuel Ankomah will serve as the masseur.

Dr Percy Annan will serve as the medical officer for Ghana's Under-17 side with Ismail Hamidu been appointed as the new  Equipment Officer for the Black Stars.

With the announcement of Kwesi Appiah’s backroom staff, the former Asante Kotoko defender and men will have to hit the ground running ahead of the World cup qualifiers against  minnows  Lesotho on June 3 in Kumasi before engaging African Kings  Zambia six days later at the new 40000-capacity Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
