Ghana currently without an opponent for this month's friendlies

The Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi says the association is in advanced talks to secure two friendly matches for the Black Stars in March.

The Black Stars are currently without an opponent for next month’s FIFA free dates after the collapse of a prospective match against rivals Nigeria due to a FIFA rule.

The rule prevents teams from playing matches across two continents in the space of three days.

This has left the Ghana FA scrambling for a new opponent for a friendly match in March.

The GFA have made good use of their policy of fully utilizing FIFA free dates in recent years and are determined not to leave the team without activity this month.

Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi his outfit is in advanced talks towards sealing a friendly games which is expected to be announced next week.

“What I can confirm to you is that we are in advanced stage of talks with teams for friendly matches in March,” he told Joy FM.

“We have to FIFA friendly date and we will want to utilize them.

“By next week I am sure talks will be concluded for an announcement to be made.

“We could play both matches in Europe or in Asia.”
