Ghana duo; Boye and Mensah out of Rennes weekend's clash

John Boye out with abdominal pains

Ghana duo John Boye and John Mensah are doubtful for Stade Rennes Ligue 1 clash with Saint Etienne on Friday.

Boye who played for the Black Stars at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations is still battling abdominal pains.

While Mensah is considered unfit for first team action despite returning to training earlier this week.

News of the duo’s extended spell on the sidelines, in particular Boye is a massive blow to Ghana ahead of their crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan on March 24.

The two are probably the best pair for the Black Stars when fit and playing regularly for their club.

Mensah’s organization at the back was sorely missed at the Nations Cup as he was clubless at the time the team was named for the tournament in South Africa.

He has however had the misfortune of injuries since securing a move to Rennes in January.

Boye on the other hand has played only once since returning from the Nations Cup in South Africa.
