Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila made his debut in the South African top flight by helping Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-1 draw against Platinum Stars on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old played the entire duration of the match played at the Loftus Verfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
The central defender joined Sundowns this off-season from Ebusua Dwarfs haven excelled on loan at Asante Kotoko.
The Ghana international missed the start of the South African Premier League season due to the late arrival of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
Sumaila however made his debut on Wednesday night for Pitso Mosimane’s side which drew 1-1 with Platinum Stars.
The Ghana youth star impressed throughout the entire game despite it being his first game since moving to South Africa.
Sumaila will now travel to Ghana to join the Black Stars camp for the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia and then an international friendly against Japan before returning to resume club duties.
