Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila wants revenge against Polokwane City when he lines up this weekend for his South African club Mamelodi Sundowns in the PSL clash.
The Brazilians suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat in the reverse of this fixture back in October.
That defeat helped dethroning Sundowns off the top of the South African top flight as it represented their first defeat in the league.
The Black Stars defender now wants a massive response from his side to right the wrongs in the return fixture while giving their fans something more to cheer about following their new found winning form after a stuttering period.
ââ¬ÅSaturdayââ¬â¢s match against Polokwane City is a big one that comes at a very crucial time for us because we are looking to maintain a winning run after the AmaZulu win,â⬠Sumaila told the clubââ¬â¢s website.
ââ¬ÅOn the other hand we know that our supporters want revenge â⬓ these guys beat us 1â⬓0 to hand us our first defeat of the season.
ââ¬ÅFor us on the training fields thereââ¬â¢s no revenge talk at all, the main focus is working hard on team chemistry because some of the players have not played together for some time.ââ¬
Pitso Mosimaneââ¬â¢s side were not in midweek action â⬓ meaning he will have his players fresh for Saturdayââ¬â¢s home game â⬓ something the Ghanaian acknowledge will go a long way to help the side.
ââ¬ÅNot playing a midweek match has really afforded us the time and by now we are playing as a solid team, and thatââ¬â¢s something to be excited about,â⬠Sumiala added.
ââ¬ÅWe know what we have to do to bring back the pride to the clubââ¬â¢s badge. We have to break opponents in home matches and be very tight.ââ¬
Sundowns are six points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs who will be facing Orlando Pirates on the big South African derby.
