John Paintsil wants the Black Stars to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations

Ghana defender John Pantsil has tasked his Black Stars team-mates to end their African title drought in South Africa next year.

The Black Stars are back in the reckoning for an African crown after being paired against old foes Mali and DR Congo and Niger at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana disappointed pundits at the last edition of the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea after finishing fourth.
The last time they (Ghana) won the title was in 1982 in Sudan but came close to winning it two years ago in Angola when they finished second behind Egypt.
Pantsil, who is set to make a fifth appearance at the continental showpiece , believes it’s time for the Ghanaians to exorcise the ghost.
“Since I made by debut for the Black Stars, I have dreamt of the day that I will lift the trophy,” Pantsil said.
“There is another chance for us to do it. I believe we have talked about our chances for far too long and it’s time to win something for our people.
“Thirty years has been so long for a great nation like Ghana to remain trophyless.
“We have tried in the past but it hasn’t work but I have a great feeling that’s about to end soon.
“We have to support and pray for the players who have been called up because I believe we have talent to end a long-wait for an African title.
“Nothing is impossible under this sun. We just to work hard and believe we can do it.”
Ghana will begin their pre-tournament camping on 5 January in Abu Dhabi where they will play Egypt and Tunisia in warm-up matches.
