Ghana defender John Pantsil has denied reports linking him with a sensational move to Ghana Premier League champions Asante Kotoko insisting he is fed-up about false media reports about him.
The ex-Fulham star, who has been without a club after being released by Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv last season, insists it would a huge honour to play for the two-time Africa champions.
However, the right-back insists that the report of him seeking a move to Kotoko is completely untrue as as he has not made any contacts with the Porcupine Warriors.
English side Millwal decided against signing the player after training with Heart of Lions for a few months ago.
In the wake of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, a section of the media carried some reports about the defender which hurt his reputation – accusations he vehemently denied.
Even though Paintsil is searching for a club in Europe, radio journalists carried a report claiming the defender was on the verge of sealing a move to Kotoko which has forced him to deny the reported move.
“I was told that some journalists brought this story on radio and I couldn’t believe it,” Pantsil told Kumasi-based Angel FM.
“So are these people (journalists) not tired about carrying fake news about me in the media”?.
“In fact Kotoko is a big team in Africa and a respected team on the continent as well but the fact is this story or rumour is never true.
“If even I decide to play for Kotoko, I will feel very proud doing so without regret but I haven’t decided on coming to play here yet and I haven’t talked to anyone concerning this move before.”
The experienced right-back recently revealed that the much-publicized story which hit the media some months back about him stabbing his wife in the eye has cost him his football career.
