Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah returned to his French club Evian on Saturday morning after his extended summer holidays.

The centre-back joined his team-mates in their pre-season preparation two weeks late because of his participation in the World Cup.

His received a two-week extension on his holidays because he could rest in the summer as he was with the Ghana team at the tournament in Brazil.

This means he could not get the rest needed to start the pre-season training resulting in the decision to extend his holidays.

Mensah says he is delighted to return to Evian after a personally successful World Cup with light training scheduled for him on Saturday.

"Back to work! Can you see the smile on my face? Hehe! Light jogging this morning. Have a good weekend guys," Mensah tweeted on Saturday morning.

Rumours are rife that he could leave Evian because of his excellent showing at the World Cup.
